- Description
- The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is conducting market research to determine the availability of qualified businesses capable of providing 40 GPS position data loggers for the use on birds and a UHF base-station as described in the required features and specifications below. This sources sought announcement is not a request for quote or proposal and the Government is not committed to award of a purchase order or contract pursuant to this announcement. The information resulting from this market research is simply for planning purposes to assist the Government in determining its acquisition strategy. The Government will not pay for any costs incurred in the preparation of information for responding to this notice. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code - 334511 Search, Detection, Navigation, Guidance, Aeronautical, and Nautical System and Instrument Manufacturing, with the associated size standard of 1,250 employees apply to this announcement. All responsible sources may submit a brochure and/or technical specifications detailing the ability of their product to meet the required features and specifications included with this announcement. Responses to this announcement shall only be accepted through electronic mail addressed to thuot@usgs.gov and must be uploaded and received in their entirety no later than January 11, 2022 at 1700 PD. Responses submitted by hardcopy or the SAM web portal shall not be accepted or considered. Required features and specifications: -Housing: backpack design, aerodynamic, strong, and waterproof, can be made in a dark color or is paintable. -No external antennas. -Size: weight <12 grams, dimensions <50x20x15. -GPS receiver: high sensitivity 72 channel module with ability to estimate altitude. -Internal battery with under- and over-charge protection and solar panel recharge. -GPS logging intervals: from 1 second to 48 hours (user selectable) -Data storage: memory capable of storing at least 30,000 records -Data upload: via UHF interface -Logged data are stored in memory until triggered for download. -Operational temperature: from -10 to +30 �C -Minimum data record includes; UTC date & time, GPS position, GPS altitude, speed, direction, HDOP, battery voltage, battery charging current, instant acceleration (3 axes). -Transmitter firmware update over the air (OTA) -When deployed, transmitters must be proven to allow for remote downloading of data. Simply establishing contact with deployed transmitters is not sufficient
