- Description
- This anticipated requirement will be for the Complicated Obstetrical Emergency Simulation System 2(COES2). The COES2 will provide the ideal training solution for perinatal healthcare personnel skills that pertain to complicated obstetric emergency healthcare improvement. The simulation standardization methodology is evidence-based training of standards based interventions with team communications to improve patient outcomes while maintaining a safe environment. The COES2 program will provide simulation training on high-risk, low-volume scenarios such as postpartum hemorrhage, shoulder dystocia, eclampsia, breech delivery, operative vaginal delivery, umbilical cord prolapse, and neonatal resuscitation. Participation in complicated obstetric emergency simulations improves confidence, competency, and communication among the perinatal staff. Additionally, there is a need to extract and centrally collect data related to COES2 utilization in order to track and monitor simulation performance, participation, quality and outcomes. This helps to target systems-based improvement among our diversely resourced Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) providing peripartum services.
