- Description
- This is a Request for Information (RFI). See attached document for more information. The Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV) contract was originally awarded 23 December 2014 on a competitive basis to BAE Systems Land & Armaments, L.P. As part of market research efforts, PdM AMPV is seeking feedback to determine the level of interest among qualified contractors in providing an IMI Drivers Station Virtual Trainer for the AMPV program. The overall scope is to develop an AMPV virtual drivers station that will aid in the transition for Soldiers (drivers) from the M113 analog system of dials and gauges, to the AMPV digital platform. The contractor shall develop and deliver a crawl-walk-run interactive system for a Government defined list of approximately 31 operator tasks of varying complexity. Examples of tasks include Description and Use of Driver Controls and Indicators, Lower and Raise Ramp, Intercom System Operation, Proper Start and Shut Down Procedures, and Drive Vehicle Under Unusual Conditions. The crawl phase is heavy on explanation, walkthroughs, and step-by-step guidance that instructs and builds on the AMPV Drivers Station familiarization with a clear and thorough description of each task. The walk phase consists of rehearsals, moving through each stage of the task at a moderate pace, with each individual gaining confidence in each task. In the run phase, the individual performs the task a normal speed and culminates with scenario based exercises that evaluate and provides feedback on the operators understanding of drivers station functionality. The Virtual Trainer shall allow Soldiers to train at the point of need within the AMPV or from another location. It also shall allow for the inclusion of supplemental educational materials, such as technical manuals and instructor presentations. The Government would provide CREO drawings, technical manuals, and limited access to an AMPV vehicle at a USG installation to support the development of the IMI Drivers Station Virtual Trainer. The AMPV Virtual Trainer will be delivered in an iOS compatible format, on Government provided iPad tablets and be capable of being loaded on other iOS based devices. The virtual trainer shall also include instructions (readme file) for the user and instructor to follow along and/or teach. The interactive system and the training materials provided must be consistent with the Army Standards of training IAW AR 350-1.
