- NOTICE OF INTENT This is a notice of intent to award a sole source contract.� The award is to be a Firm-Fixed Price contract pursuant to Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-1(b)(1)(i), �Contracting officers may solicit from one source if the contracting officer determines that the circumstances of the contract action deem only one source reasonably available.�� The contracting officer has determined that only one source, Bruker Nano, Inc, is capable of meeting the requirement without the Government incurring significant additional costs. Bruker Nano, Inc. is the manufacturer of the AFIT/ENG Cleanroom Dektak Profilometer system, and has proprietary ownership over parts, firmware/software upgrades which gives the Air Force a warranty for upgrade kits and spare parts. AFIT currently owns the Bruker Nano, Inc. Dektak Profilometer Standard system, but with the advances being made by the Air Force in MEMS technology, the Standard system lacks a lot of the precision measurement capabilities the Bruker Nano Dektak DXT-A automated models provides that are needed to keep up with the demands of the Air Force MEMS research. The DXT-A Profilometer system is required in order to be able to collaborate with AFRL and support the Air Force need for higher capability precision MEMS technology. The NAICS code for this requirement is 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing), with a size standard of 1,000 employees.� This notice of intent to award a sole source contract is not a request for competitive proposals.� A Request for Quotation (RFQ) will be released for this requirement in the near future.� Address questions regarding this notice of intent to TSgt Mark Baker by phone at (937) 257-7855 or via e-mail at mark.baker.29@us.af.mil. Any correspondence sent via e-mail must not exceed 5 megabytes, including attachments, and contain the subject line �FA8601-22-Q-0035 Profilometer�. E-mails with compressed files are not permitted.� Note that e-mail filters at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base are designed to filter e-mails without subject lines or with suspicious subject lines or contents (i.e., .exe or .zip files).� Therefore, if the specified subject line is not included, the e-mail may not get through the e-mail filters. Also be advised that .zip or .exe files are not allowable attachments and may be deleted by the email filters at Wright-Patterson.� If sending attachments with email, ensure only .pdf, .doc, .docx, .xls or .xlsx documents are sent.� The email filter may delete any other form of attachments.� A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely�within the discretion of the Government.�
