Description
NASA/GRC has a requirement for Production and delivery of NiTi Springs Exhibiting Pseudoelastic behavior from -130C to 90C. NASA/GRC intends to issue a modification to sole source contract to acquire the production and delivery of NiTi Springs Exhibiting Pseudoelastic behavior from -130C to 90C from Fort Wayne Metals Research Products, LLC under the authority FAR 6.302-1 Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This synopsis is for a modification of existing contract 80GRC020D0015 that was awarded on 04/22/2020. The purpose of this synopsis is to modify the existing statement of work (SOW) and increase the contract ceiling price by $4 million. There have been minor edits to the SOW language to clarify the governments requirements. Changes include that the government is authorized to order wire in lots in addition to individual SMA spring elements. Changes were made to clarify that the government will furnish the specifications in each individual task orders. The original scope of work states the springs are to be used for flight-qualified tires. The revised SOW defines the requirements for flight qualification as Flight qualification shall include all test data, analyses, processes, procedures, quality assurance audits, and government site visits as defined by the funding program, which is necessary to certify products for spaceflight. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort electronically via email to Ashlee Shaw at ashlee.b.shaw@nasa.gov not later than 5:00 pm EDT on March 17, 2022. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this acquisition on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this acquisition on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government. NASA Clause 1852.215-84, Ombudsman, is applicable. The Center Ombudsman for this acquisition can be found at http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/pub/pub_library/Omb.html
