Description
Z- GAOA Campground SST Interior Painting on the Flathead National Forest Description of Work:This project is to provide maintenance of precast concrete buildings. The work includes patching of small cracks, sealing gaps between precast concrete panels, painting walls, painting floors, painting ceilings, and installation of Government furnished signs at 133 precast concrete vault toilet buildings located across the Flathead National Forest. Work requires performance of aspects of construction trade work that apply to repair and painting of concrete panels and installation of tamper resistant signs in in public restrooms. The performance of painting and sign maintenance at all 133 precast toilet buildings shall be complete in every detail. Miscellaneous items of equipment, tools, transportation, supplies, material and labor necessary to complete the work described, indicated, or reasonably implied in the statement of work and technical specifications shall be included as part of the Contract as if fully specified. Building Maintenance Details Small cracks on walls and roof panels shall be cleaned of foreign material with a damp cloth and allowed time for the surface to dry. The contractor shall clean areas to be painted and repaired with a cleaner recommended by the coating manufacturer or another approved cleaner (such as Simple Green, 18002280709). Contractor shall repair damaged concrete with an approved patching material, such as QUIKRETE or United Coating's Uni-Crete according to the manufacturer's instructions. At a minimum the contractor shall roughen the area along the crack, including any paint edges and exposed concrete, with 100- to 125-grit sandpaper, wire brushes, or a dry paintbrush with stiff bristles to remove loose material inside the crack. The cracked area shall be caulked with a brilliant white acrylic latex caulk plus silicone such as DAP, Sidewinder, or Alex Plus"". An even application of caulk filling the crack along its entire length is required. The contractor shall clean excess caulk from the surface with a damp rag and allow applications of caulk to dry for at least 30 minutes before painting. Coatings of paint which have peeled and cracked around panel connection joints, under the roof, at sealed joints, and around areas of cracked concrete shall be prepared for painting. The contractor shall follow the paint manufacturer's recommendations for product use and is not limited to removal of loose coats of paint and flaking concrete with a putty knife or scraper. The work requires the contractor to thoroughly rinse all cleansed areas with freshwater and allow them to dry to the touch (in most cases 2 to 4 hours). Clean up and Disposal of waste material will be off National Forest Land and in compliance with local laws regarding disposal of construction waste. Start of Work and Coordination The contractor shall coordinate with the FSs Contracting Officers Representitive (COR) and Inspetors by providing a schedule of their planned work one week prior to painting each building. Based on the supplied schedule the Government will inform the public of the upcoming work and support the contractors site access by changing locks and proving keys. In addition to the contractors coordination of advanced public notice for closure of individual vault toilets, the contractor will be required to perform some building maintenance work when campgrounds are closed. Section 01010, General Requirements shows a table of sites and off-peak SHOULDER season dates in early Spring or late Fall, when work may be performed. Work is intended to begin after July 21, 2022 and be completed by Sept. 30th, 2023. Construction Magnitude: $25,000 - $100,000
