Request for Information (RFI) # 1 Replace Loading Dock Equipment Project# SL-22-003 Questions and Answers 1. Scope of the work states to replace none (9) rolling steel doors. Drawing C-6 shows only six ( 6 ) rolling doors, where are the other three ( 3 ) rolling doors? Please provide sizes of all the nine ( 9 ) rolling doors. Also, will these doors be manual or motorized? Please provide the details. R. Rolling steel doors: (3) 12 Motorized (1) 16 Motorized (2) 8 Motorized (1) 36 Motorized (1) 7 Existing is manual with pull chain, contractor will replace to motorized roll steel door (1) 16 Existing is manual with pull chain, contractor will replace to motorized roll steel door 2. Scope of the work states to replace ( 9 ) loading dock bumpers. As per drawing C-6 only bays 4,5 and 6 bumpers are being replaced six vertical and three horizontals. Please confirm all the bumpers at bays 1,2 and 3 remains as is. R. (8) 7""L x 36""H x 4""D Vertical, (7) 20 L x 6""H x 4""D Horizontal, (2) 8 L x 6"" H x 4""D Horizontal, (3) 32 L x 6""H x 4""D Horizontal Bumpers that are currently existing in placed may need to be adjusted and re-configure its placement according to vehicles parking space for better alignment. Be advised, Dwg C-6 does not show accurate bumper location and configuration on loading dock. All measurements contractor shall verify all existing bumpers prior to ordering. 3. As per dwg C-6, section A concrete repairs is applicable only at the dock bay no.3 location. Please confirm this is correct and there are no concrete repairs at other dock bays. R. Be advised dwg C-6 is not accurate and should general reference info. Concrete repair will be at the main bay (1) 36 Motorized gate section of loading dock. 4. There are no details/specs for new loading dock bumpers. Please provide the name of manufacturer and model number for new loading dock bumpers. R. Contractor will submit new loading dock bumpers/doors/levelers for approval prior to construction. 5. Will the agency allow approved equal manufacturer for rolling steel doors and dock levelers? R. Submit cat log/spec info for all equal manufacturer equipment/material for approval. 6. Please confirm DWG C-9, attached, is the only drawing available for the above referenced project. R. Dwg C-9 is reference only and may not be accurate in description/location of equipment/size/dimension. Contractor will submit design drawing to VA for construction approval. 7. As per solicitation 36C24222B0025_1 STATEMENT OF WORK (page 6) requirements state that Contractor Shall Install (9) rolling steel doors, (9) loading dock bumpers, and (3) hydraulic levelers. However, DWG C-9 shows only 6 loading docks. Please confirm the correct quantity of rolling steel doors, loading dock bumpers, and hydraulic levelers for the above reference project. R. Dock Leveler: (3) 7 Hydraulic Levelers 8. Please advise if this project requires electrical work from contractor. If so, please advise if there are electrical drawings available for the above reference project. R. Contractor should provide electrical wiring of mortor/conduit only for the motorized door/leveler as required to bring loading dock to full operation. 9. For bidding purposes, please confirm the following quantities per scope of work: (9 ea.) new Rolling Steel Doors, (9 ea.) new Loading Dock Bumpers, and (3 ea.) new Hydraulic Levelers? R. See below: Rolling steel doors: (3) 12 Motorized (1) 16 Motorized (2) 8 Motorized (1) 36 Motorized (1) 7 Existing is manual with pull chain, contractor will replace to motorized roll steel door (1) 16 Existing is manual with pull chain, contractor will replace to motorized roll steel door Dock Bumpers: (8) 7""L x 36""H x 4""D Vertical, (7) 20 L x 6""H x 4""D Horizontal, (2) 8 L x 6"" H x 4""D Horizontal, (3) 32 L x 6""H x 4""D Horizontal All measurements contractor shall verify all existing bumpers prior to ordering. Dock Leveler: (3) 7 Hydraulic Levelers 10. For bidding purposes, please advise if all (9 ea.) of the new Rolling Steel Doors shall be motorized. (7 ea.) existing motorized doors and (2 ea.) existing manual/hand chain operating doors was observed during the Prebid site visit. R. All rolling steel doors will be motized. See Question 9 for dimensions. 11. For bidding purposes, please advise if any of the new rolling steel doors are required to be a fire door. (1 ea.) existing fire door was observed during the Prebid site visit. R. Yes, The interior rolling steel doors from the loading dock are fire protection enclosure steel door (2) 12. Please confirm all (9 ea.) new rolling steel doors are to be interior mounted. R. Confirm, replace steel doors as to its current mount. 13. For bidding purposes, please confirm electrical work is required for the (9 ea.) new rolling steel doors to be activated. R. Electrical work will be for all new motorized steel rolling doors, provide wiring termination, conduit. 14. For bidding purposes, please advise on the electrical scope of work requirements. Is the contractor required to provide new electrical wiring and/or conduits from the motor to the panel for Rolling steel doors (should all 9 be motorized)? Is contractor permitted to utilize existing wiring? Is contractor permitted to utilize existing conduits? R. Include electrical work to estimate of electrical termination at panel and equipment, conduit for all motorized steel door, provide new wire run, conduit, plate cover etc. (all new electrical installation). 15. For bidding purposes, please advise the distance from the loading dock to the primary electrical panel for the rolling steel doors. R. Panel is located inside loading dock on the secondary interior rolling steel door, depending which bay of loading dock, can be approx. 30 50 ft. 16. Please advise, a) if turnkey installation is required and b) if wiring terminations can be utilized with existing wiring on site? R. a) Contractor is to provide turnkey installation, b) provide new wiring run and termination. 17. For bidding purposes, please advise per DWG C-6 Phasing Plan # 2: The contractor shall be aware that the shipping/receiving area will remain in use during all phases of construction and will only be allowed to close one dock bay at any given time. R. Contractor will coordinate with VA engineer to determine the construction phases and dock bay. 18. Please advise if staging area will be provided to Contractor. Please advise if material can be stored on site. Please advise if equipment can be stored on site. R. It is advised for contractor to not store anything on VA property or inside facility. Contracting officer rep will coordinate with contractor in case of unavoidable situation during construction phase. VA will not be responsible for equipment, material if missing/damage/loss when stage, VA 19. Please advise on working hours. R. Working hours normal will be on daily schedule, 7-3:30, 8-4:30. Night-time schedule should be avoided, unless situation or working condition is unavoidable. 20. Please advise on the existing conditions for installing the new rolling door rails. Please confirm if the surrounding structure (masonry/concrete/steel) requires restoration at each clear opening. R. Replace railing at rolling door. Concrete repair on the edge of loading dock, structure blocks that are damaged, cracked etc. requires restoration. 21. Please provide dock bumper details/specifications. R. Submit dock bumper specification for approval, current dock bumpers: (8) 7""L x 36""H x 4""D Vertical, (7) 20 L x 6""H x 4""D Horizontal, (2) 8 L x 6"" H x 4""D Horizontal, (3) 32 L x 6""H x 4""D Horizontal. 22. Please advise if electrical wiring is required for new dock levelers. R. All new electrical wiring, conduit, termination etc. 23. Please advise if existing wiring is present and can be utilized for new dock levelers. R. Wiring may not be connected, issues with levelers. Contractor should include new wiring, termination for new dock levelers. 24. Please confirm the (3) new dock levelers will be installed where the existing dock levelers are located. R. Confirm, for existing dock levelers and current location. 25. Please provide lip measurement for each leveler. R. Dock Leveler: Please provide lip measurement for each leveler. 26. Please provide opening dimensions for each rolling steel door. R. See response for question 1. Objectives/Requirement: The VA NYHHS Engineering Service is requesting the procurement for labor, materials, equipment and supervision necessary for replace loading dock bumper, hydraulic dock leveler and all rolling steel doors at the loading dock bay area including interior insulated fire protection steel doors. The vendor shall: Install motorized (7) rolling steel doors (length varies at dock bay), (2) Insulated rolling steel door (Interior dock area), (19) heavy duty loading dock bumpers (dimensions varies), and (3) Electrical hydraulic levelers. Provide all new electrical wiring/conduit runs/termination to mechanical equipment and mechanical all mechanical equipment installation. Restoration of concrete at edge of loading dock bay, support columns, dock side ramp walkway. Repair and replace loading dock guardrails on side walkway concrete ramp and dock bay entrance/exit rails. Remove and dispose old loading dock equipment. Product Installation The vendor shall be responsible for determination of and compliance with federal and state or local code requirements and other factors necessary to install/deliver the equipment. (a) Upon completing of installation of the equipment shall be turned over to the hospital for use. The contractor shall furnish, upon completion of installation, a written notice of readiness for inspection for the Contracting Officer or the COR.
