- This is a Notice of Proposed Contract Action under the FAR Part 12 Acquisition of Commercial Items and FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures.� This notice is for information only; a solicitation will not be issued. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTATION. No contract will be awarded on the basis of offers received in response to this notice. The associated North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 333314 with a small business size standard of 500 employees. AFRL requires acousto-optic modulators, RF drivers and RF cables with the following specifications: 1). TEM-500-100-5-493-3FP, QTY: 5 wavelength: 493 nm optical power density: 45 mW maximum or more carrier frequency: 500 MHz bandwidth: 100 MHz or better rise time: 5 ns or shorter RF power: 1 W impedance: 50 ohms single mode fiber type: 3.5 micron core, 125 micron cladding with 900 micron jacket FC/APC fibers, ~ 1 meter in length back reflection: -40 dB total insertion loss: 6-8 dB zeroth order, 4-6 dB first order or better extinction ratio: 50 dB or better � 2). RF-SMA-SMB-1M QTY: 18 1 meter standard SMA to SMB RF cable. The Government intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Brimrose Corporation of America, 19 Loveton Circle, Hunt Valley Loveton Center, Baltimore, Maryland 21152-9201. The Government has determined that no other source has commercial offerings that can meet these wavelength requirements and rise time necessary for modulating the laser for gates and generating atom/photon pairs. It is believed that these are the only fiber optic devices that can meet the requirements of 5 ns rise times. If this system is not procured there will be a halt of future experiments for the Government and will cause the inability to meet yearly program milestones. This is a notice of proposed contract action and not a request for competitive proposals; however, all responsible sources may submit a capability statement or proposal, which shall be considered by the agency. Any response to this notice must show clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the Government in future procurements. Responses received will be evaluated; however a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. The Government anticipates an award date on or before 30 April 2022. A Sole Source Justification will be attached to the subsequent Notice of Award in accordance with applicable regulation.
