- Description
- The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is the nations leading medical research agency and the primary Federal agency whose mission is to seek fundamental knowledge about the nature and behavior of living systems and the application of that knowledge to enhance health, lengthen life, and reduce illness and disability, conducting, supporting and making medical discoveries that improve peoples health and save lives. These transmission electron microscopes are the workhorse equipment in the NINDS EM Facility. Approximately ten research papers per year are authored by NINDS researchers. They utilize EM data generated at the core Facility via these microscopes. The Facility needs to maintain these microscopes under optimal conditions to produce high quality EM images to serve the needs of researchers. The NINDS EM Facility requires a preventive maintenance and emergency repair services contract for the Jeol for two Jeol transmission electron microscopes to ensure that there is no interruption in conducting vital research. It is imperative that these two electron microscopes are properly maintained and quickly repaired should a service issue arise. The Jeol USA JEM-1200EXII and JEM-200CX plus SEG (Side Entry Goniometer) electron microscopes are a major workhorse for NINDS researchers in the exploration of all aspects neurological disease. With their high resolution and high accuracy, the JEM-1200EXII and JEM-200CX electron microscopes are a major workhorse for high throughput data collection and evaluation which is required in the exploration of all aspects neurological disease. A service agreement allows for quick repair, if needed and regular maintenance and upgrading work to ensure continued use of the equipment which is required to perform at peak manufacturers standards.
