Description

USDA Forest Service has a need to procure brand name corrosion coupons. The brand is Metal Samples (a division of Alabama Specialty Products, Inc.). This procurement is for on-going product testing of new wildland fire chemicals. It is a safety requirement for all new developmental products to undergo uniform and intergranular corrosion testing to Forest Service Specifications FS 5100-304d (Long-term Retardants), 5100-306b (Water Enhancers), and 5100-307b (Class A Foams). Without this testing, new products cannot be evaluated for use on Federal lands. The qualified products list and the associated specifications requires this testing to be completed on all new products. The subsequent testing with these consumable corrosion coupons allows the agency to determine which products are safe and suitable for use in the field.
