Description
The RFP covers exhibit design completion, fabrication, and installation for five state-of-the-art exhibitions and common areas located at the Smithsonian Institution, National Air and Space Museum, Washington, DC.��The base bid of five exhibits and common areas is about 50,000 sq feet. There are�4�priced options for an additional�4�exhibits (22,800 sq feet) and�one�unpriced option for�an�exhibit (4,800 sq ft). The exhibits have been designed to 65% completion and cover a range of aerospace topics including WWI, WWII, the space age, and a highly interactive gallery about how things fly. These are complex exhibits that consist of very large, large, medium, and small objects as well as graphics, casework, multimedia, tactiles, and mechanical interactives.� This solicitation has a minimum requirement that bidder(s) must have worked on the fabrication of at least three complex museum exhibits in the past ten (10) years. One of the examples must be completed and must be larger than 35,000 sq-ft. At least one of the projects cited must have had a final cost over $15 million dollars. A complex exhibit is defined as one that consists of museum objects (large and small), graphics and images, custom casework, tactile models, multimedia, interactives, security, lighting, and multiple subcontractors. �Teaming arrangements where more than one firm combines experience to meet the minimum requirements will be accepted however one firm must serve as the prime on the contract and evaluation will take into account the experience of the proposed firms as it relates to the role they are to perform per the proposal (as further explained in the attached RFP). Please review the attached RFP to determine if the firm has the minimum requirement experience detailed above. �Bidders who have the experience can obtain a link with the RFP attachments by signing the Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).�Email one signed NDA per firm signed by the proper authority. � The NDA requirements will flow down within the firm and to any subcontractors who review the documents. Email the signed NDA to berked@si.edu.� �After review of the NDA, a link will be emailed with the RFP attachments. � Amendment #1 dated March 14, 2022 on RFP 33330222RT0010016 to provide exhibit design completion, fabrication, and installation services for six state-of-the-art exhibitions and Common areas at the East End of the Smithsonian Institution, National Air and Space Museum provides responses to bidder questions, extends the proposal due date to April 8, 2022 10:00 AM (ET), and adds files to the Dropbox.
