Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR Part 13.106-1(b) with Mettler-Toledo; 1900 Polaris Pkwy, Columbus, OH 43240-4035; for the acquisition of Maintenance for Highly Specialized Comparators. This service will used by the NIST Physical Measurement Laboratory (PML), in Gaithersburg, MD. ***** Sole source determination is based on the need to acquire maintenance services for ten (10) Mettler-Toledo highly specialized mass comparators. The Mass and Force (MF) Group in the Quantum Measurement Division (QMD) of the Physical Measurement Laboratory (PML) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) provides high-accuracy tests and calibration services, and access to the top of the traceability chain for the SI units of mass, force, and related quantities (e.g., torque) to meet the needs and demands of U.S. industry, government, and the scientific community.� This acquisition is necessary to maintain the high-accuracy measurement capabilities. Due to the proprietary parts, implemented solutions, trade and technical secrets these services are only available from the system�s original manufacturer, Mettler-Toledo. Performance shall occur at the NIST Gaithersburg, MD campus within five (5) years after receipt of order. ***** The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 811219 - Other Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance, with a small business size standard of 20.5 dollars. ****** A determination by the Government whether to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. *****No solicitation package will be issued.� This notice of intent is not a request for quotations.� Interested parties that believe they can satisfy the requirements listed above must identify their capability in writing before the response date of this notice. Only responses received by April 5, 2022 at 11:59 EST will be considered by the government. Responses shall be submitted via email to tracy.bisson@nist.gov �
