- Description
- Provide all supervision, labor, material, and equipment required to inspect and certify 73 horizontal lifelines in various buildings at Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, VA. The required inspection and recertification of horizontal lifelines (HLL) is in order to prevent disruption of services that overhead cranes provide throughout the controlled industrial area (CIA) in the shipyard. The contractors work shall provide for the inspection and certification of cables, points of attachment hardware and related equipment. All work performed shall be in a manner to provide a complete, usable, and finished product and certification Perform test/inspection and� repairs on horizontal lifeline systems in accordance with ANSI Z359.1;2-2007 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.66; 1926.502. All work shall be supervised and certified/recertified by a registered Professional Engineer who is a �Qualified Person for Fall Protection� as defined in the DON Fall Protection Guide (May 2015).� Ensure inspection includes test end anchors, other anchorage connection points for the cables, check cables for broken strands and corrosion, check cable tension, check fittings and inspect any related user equipment (SLRs, lanyards and harnesses). Provide a trained and certified technician to perform the inspections and certifications for Hy-Safe Technology Fall Arrest Systems in accordance with established industry and safety standards and regulations. Failure to use such qualified personnel does not fulfill requirements to extend the warranty of the fall protection system and places all responsibility and liability on the third party Inspector/certifier. Submit a schedule at a minimum of two weeks prior to commencement of any inspections by date and building. An onsite, coordination meeting shall be arranged upon receipt of the Contractor�s proposed schedule. The Contractor and other key stakeholders shall meet to finalize a plan and schedule for the inspections.� The developed schedule shall prevent work stoppages and other disruptions to critical industrial processes. Prepare and submit a detailed written report identifying the condition and status of each of Personnel Fall Arrest System(s) (PFAS) and that certification, for the period, allowed by regulation(s) is complete. The requirements for the report are in S Ensure that if deficiencies exist a report shall describe the problem(s) and the corrective action required to restore the system to normal condition. A copy report shall be given to the NAVFAC representative and� C720 representative Ensure all work shall be performed in accordance with standard industry practice, applicable local, state and federal codes, laws and regulations, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC�s), Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS) Section, all OSHA safety regulations 29 CFR 1910.66, EPA guidelines and base procedures.
