- This is a Sources Sought/Request for Information only.� This is not a Solicitation Announcement, nor is it a Request for Proposal.� This request does not obligate the Government in any contract award.� The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District is issuing the sources sought synopsis as a means of conducting market research to identify parties having an interest in and the resources to support the requirement for maintenance dredging.� The result this market research will contribute to determining the method of procurement.� The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code assigned this procurement is 237990 � Dredging and Surface Cleanup Activities.� The Product Service Code is Y1PZ- Construction of Other Non-Building Facilities.� �� Jones Oysterbed Island (JOI) Dredged Material Containment Area (DMCA) is primarily for disposal of the maintenance material that will be excavated during dredging of the Savannah River as part of the on-going Savannah Harbor Navigation Project.� In order to restore capacity for placement of dredged material from the on-going maintenance of the Savannah Harbor Navigation Project, the storage capacity of the JOI DMCA will be increased, and improvements made to the water control outlets.� The Scope of Work for this project consists of raising the JOI DMCA perimeter dike by approximately six (6) feet, rehabilitation of the five (5) existing weir/water control structures across the back (marsh-side) dike and regrading of the bird island, barge landing, access ramp, and dredge pipe ramps.� The existing perimeter dike currently spans a length of approximately 44,000 feet and has a crest elevation ranging from about 28 to 31 feet MLLW.� The dike will be raised to a uniform crest elevation of 35 feet MLLW to gain additional capacity for containment of Savannah Harbor dredged material.� Approximately 1,000,000 cubic yards of borrow material from the interior of the DMCA will be required for the raising.� The borrow material consists of dredge spoils from the Savannah River.� The dike construction will be performed to the inside of the existing dike crest and slope.� Repairs and modifications to the existing weirs will involve temporary removal, replacement of corroded steel, reinforcement of the outfall stub, new safety climbs, catwalk and outfall pipe extensions, and re-installation on a new slab foundation.� The existing bird island within the interior of the DMCA, the existing barge landing at the western end of the island, and dredge pipe ramps along the river side of the island will also be re-graded.� The fill material for all earthwork will be obtained from the interior of the DMCA.� Additional project requirements include clearing, grassing, and erosion control provisions.� Access to Jones/Oysterbed Island is by water only using an existing ramp at the western end of the island adjacent to Fields Cut.
