Description

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed GENO/GRINDER, 115V to SPEX SAMPLE PREP, LLC. The Viral Special Pathogens Branch (VSPB) works with high consequence pathogens requiring BSL-4 containment. Biosafety is of utmost importance in selecting and validating protocols and each protocol is validated based on selected equipment and reagents. The 2010 Geno Grinder is a high-throughput animal tissue homogenizer/cell lyser that provides fast and efficient extraction of nucleic acids, proteins, and other molecules with a unique and vigorous vertical pulverizing motion. Other requirements include: ability to save programs, programmable parameters of run time, rate, cycles, and pause, automated high throughput sample process, rapid cell disruption, cryoblock adaptability, adjustable clamp speed (500-1750 strokes/minute), and sample vials from 2-50mls, jars up to 750mls, and/or up to six deep-well titer plates. This piece of equipment is used by VSPB has been validated for all our lab SOP's that require this step. Switching to a new manufacturer's machine would require the branch to perform undue validation and safety analysis using the new equipment, and modification and approval of all SOPs that require a step where tissue homogenization is required.� This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within 7 days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government.� A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.� Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.� Any quotation/response should be emailed to the contract specialist at qlb5@cdc.gov by COB 04/07/2022.
