Description
Solicitation Questions & Answers for the Hudson Valley Water Treatment Services for Boiler and Chiller Plants Question: Are we being asked to include the pricing and installation costs for a new softener and new dealkalizer, or to service the existing ones? Answer: Vendor shall provide and install new Softener and new Dealkalizer, cost should be incorporated into base year of contract. Question: Are we required to include the Salt and other chemicals needed to regenerate the Softeners and Dealkalizers as well? Answer: VA shall provide the salt. The vendor will be expected to perform operational checks, provide status reports, perform maintenance to assure the equipment is working according to manufacturer s requirements. Major repairs to the softeners and alkalizers shall be considered outside the scope of the contract. Question: For Legionella Testing results over 10 CFU, will the facility pay for necessary remedial action off contract? Answer: The VA would expect the water treatment vendor to remedy the elevated Legionella readings. Since high Legionella readings would imply the vendors water treatment program is not effective in preventing legionella growth in the cooling towers. Question: For Montrose campus we need either the annual makeup # for the cooling tower system or the system volume (bulk water capacity) to calculate the amount of chemical needed? Answer: 90,000 gallons makeup water per year. Question: Please specify number on annual Legionella tests and HPC tests required to meet the VHA Directive 1061. Answer: The HPC testing shall be performed weekly by a certified laboratory. Legionella testing shall be performed twice during the year under this contract. Question: Automated Dosage controllers are specified for the boiler systems. Do we also need to supply control equipment for the Cooling Tower systems? Answer: An amendment to the current SOW shall be submitted to remove the requirement for new Dosage Controllers. All of the plants currently have Dosage Controllers, these controllers shall remain with the plant at the end of the current contract. See page 3 of this attachment. Question: A. I am inquiring about this project and was wondering if you would consider options other than chemicals or a combination of chemical and equipment solutions. Our company offers green solutions to many of the problems that you are trying to solve. Answer: The VA Hudson Valley is open to alternative solutions; the vendor would still be responsible for meeting the requirements of the SOW. SOW Updated Section m see below: Amendment Ends.
