Description
Building 17 was built as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) research laboratories for infectious diseases in the late 1990s (Phase I) and early 2000s (Phase II). Each phase consists of a main-tie-main switchboard scheme to serve lighting, general purpose, mechanical, laboratory and other critical loads within Building 17. Each main switchboard was manufactured by Schneider Electric and consists of SE frame draw out circuit breakers. Schneider Electrics SE frame circuit breakers were introduced to the marketplace in 1983 and in became obsolete in 2003. Several Schneider Electric SE frame circuit breakers have failed, and others have to be swapped to maintain service continuity. This project will provide retro-fill and retro-fit circuit breaker solution and upgrade the switchboard as necessary.
