Description
Answer to a vendor Question:�� We will be doing destructive testing of Li-ion batteries, so the fumes will be from battery failure tests. This includes, but is not limited to, carbonate based solvents, CO, CO2, and H2 gases. The reason for the blast box is to contain any shrapnel during the thermal runaway event, as well as minimizing gas release outside of the blast box. This a Brand Name or Equal To requirement. FOB Destination Small Business Set Aside Deliver to: NASA John H. Glenn Research Center 21000 Brookpark Road Cleveland, OH 44135 �Deliveries to NASA GRC must be made Mon. � Fri. from 7:00 a.m. � 4:00 p.m. ET to the NASA GRC Shipping and Receiving Facility (SARF). Deliveries to the GRC Main Gate Building/Lobby are prohibited and will NOT be accepted at this location. All packages must include the NASA point of contact for the order. All deliverers are required to sign at the SARF for deliveries made. � Specifications for Blast Box A blast box with fume extraction is sought for destructive testing of lithium?ion and other advanced chemistry battery cells and modules. The desired system shall provide the following features and capabilities: 1. Reinforced steel construction 2. Lockable wheels for easy repositioning 3. At least 2 access holes for cables/connectors 4. Fume extraction unit with integrated extractor fan 5. Internal dimensions of at least 1m3 Vendors shall specify the following: � o Box internal dimensions � o Box external dimensions � o Largest energy requirements of cell/pack for destructive testing (i.e. 1 kWh limit) � o Number and size of access holes � o Extraction rate of fume extraction unit � o Power cable length � o Necessary voltage/current requirements of fan
