Description
The R1 Diversity and Inclusion Group (DIG) promotes ethnicity, diversity, and inclusion awareness among staff, and through its charter is tasked with leading discussions and events about ethnicity, diversity, and inclusion and its impact on the FEMA Mission. The DIG (formerly DMAC) was created through the Regions intention to include diversity and inclusion in all aspects of our work, maintaining communication and collaboration through a blended, multimedia strategy to train, educate, and celebrate ourselves, our colleagues, and partners. This will be the first in-person event the DIG has coordinated in over two years, due to pandemic restrictions on gatherings. The DIG intends for this event to be a celebration of life, highlighting Latin American culture through interactive music and dance performances. After two years of pandemic response, great uncertainty, and isolation, this event will bring R1 staff together and work to increase employee moral while we continue to transition through a waning pandemic. Veronica Robles, her band, and dance group will provide a one-hour interactive dance and music performance, including authentic, traditional costumes. The program is A Dance Journey Through Latin America Showcase Including: Mxico, Colombia, Per and a choice of one more country (El Salvador, Dominican Republic or Puerto Rico). During this presentation audiences are exposed to several dance performances from different countries of Latin America. Some members of the audience have the opportunity to learn dance choreography and perform with costumes and props.
