Description
James River Maintenance Dredging Industry Day Special Announcement The Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, would like to invite dredging industry contractors to an Industry Day for the upcoming James River maintenance dredging contract. The event will be held via webinar and conference line on May 10th, 2022, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Please RSVP for an email with webinar access instructions. Please complete the enclosed Registration Form and send as part of the RSVP. James River maintenance dredging supports unrestricted navigation for deep draft commercial vessels transiting the channel from Hampton Roads to Richmond, VA. Portions of the James River Federal Navigational Project are dredged up to an elevation ranging from 18 to 26 feet with one foot of overdepth. The approximate dredge volume is 1 million cubic yards per dredge cycle. Dredged material is placed at designated upland and overboard placement sites along the channel. There is no solicitation at this time. The event is neither a marketing opportunity for businesses, nor will it promote upcoming projects. The purpose of the event is to seek dredging industry input regarding best practices and examples of past success on similar projects for the technical execution of the James River maintenance dredging contract. The event will begin with the Districts presentation of the Projects dredge areas, estimated quantities, pumping distances, environmental requirements, and dredged material placement considerations. At the conclusion of the presentation, the District will facilitate a more formal question and answer period. The District will document questions and answers and will consider them while preparing the final design and solicitation documentation. In support of the Industry Day, a draft Plans and Specifications for the James River maintenance dredging contract will be posted for the purpose of receiving industry feedback to help strengthen and clarify the Solicitation package. The draft documents are for information purposes only and shall NOT be construed as the formal Solicitation. Draft documents may be revised before the issuance of the Solicitation. PLEASE NOTE: No proposals are being requested in response to these draft documents and none will be considered. Formal Solicitation release date is estimated to occur within the next 2 months. Questions and comments may be submitted to Tracey Strawbridge, Tracey.M.Strawbridge@usace.army.mil, before the response date given in this announcement. The Government will not provide any responses prior to the release of the formal Solicitation. Once the Solicitation is released a timeline for submission of questions will be established and responses will be provided in accordance with that timeline. All interested parties, including prospective prime contractors, subcontractors and suppliers, are invited to attend and must pre-register by e-mail to Tracey Strawbridge, Email: Tracey.M.Strawbridge@usace.army.mil, using the attached registration form referencing the James River Maintenance Dredging Contract no later than 3:00 pm on May 9th, 2022. E-mail requests received after this due date and time will not be accepted. Additionally, telephonic requests will not be accepted. Registration requests must include name, company, daytime telephone number, e-mail address and your relation to the dredging industry. Registrants are encouraged to include suggested topics for discussion when registering. There is no fee to attend and webinar information will be distributed to the registered e-mails. The Government will not be conducting one-on-one discussions related to any potential contract or on- going work under contract during this event. This announcement is not a contract solicitation, request for proposal, promise to issue any future contract, forum to discuss upcoming work, nor commitment to offer work of any kind on the part of the Government. The Army will not assume liability for costs incurred by an attendee or for travel expenses for attending this Industry Day event.
