Description
SUBJECT: This is a Request for Proposoal (RFP) by the Defense Logistics Agency, Aviation Wing, Robins AFB, GA, is for the manufacture and productiion of the 20MM Light Weight Rear Machine Gun Housing NSN 1005-01-505-2184. Item Description: The 20mm Light Weight Rear Machine Gun Housing NSN 1005-01-505-2184, P/N 200221072-10 is an assembly of an upper housing body and a lower housing body assembled as a unit. The main cam in the rear housing controls the movement of the breech bolts during the firing cycle. The clearing cam is located at the aft end of the rear housing. The clearing cam controls the breech bolts during the clearing cycle. A portion of the clearing cam path is formed by the housing cover assembly. Several associated parts are mounted directly to the rear housing. These parts are the lock cam, front unlocking cam, rear unlocking cam, roller guide, indexing pin assembly, housing cover, retainer assembly, and the end plate. The indexing pin is used when timing an external feeder to the gun. When the indexing pin enters any of the indexing holes in the rotor body, the rotor is correctly positioned relative to the attaching feeder. The retainer assembly serves as a seat for the ball bearing and provides a mounting point for the recoil adapters. The end plate serves as the inner race for the needle bearing and provides a mounting point for the aft end of the gun. Particulars: The following solicitation is a RFP for a firm-fixed price requirements contract consisting of a First Article requirement and the following projected quantities: First Article: 2 Basic Ordering Period: BEQ 10 Ordering Period 1: BEQ 5 Ordering Period 2: BEQ 5 Ordering Period 3: BEQ 5 Ordering Period 4: BEQ 5 Impediment to Competition This item will have an Acquisition Method Code/Acquisition Method Suffix code of 1/C, suitable for competitive acquisition for the first time due to completed of 3-D model. An AMSC of 1/C requires potential suppliers to satisfy a pre-qualification statement detailing the manufacturing and quality requirements needed to make the item which will result in limited competition. An�alternate source must qualify in accordance with the design control activity�s procedures, as approved by the cognizant Government engineering activity. Existing unique design capability, engineering skills, and manufacturing knowledge by the qualified sources require acquisition of the part from the approved source. Interest: The DLA/AWB Contracting Office intends to award a limited competition contract to for the manufacture of the 20mm machine gun assembly in support of the F-15 Aircraft program.
