The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District is issuing this Sources Sought Announcement for Construction Services for the Gatehouse Masonry Repair project at Knightville Dam located in Huntington, Massachusetts. The NAICS code for this procurement is 238140. The project is planned to be issued in the late summer of 2022 with construction to take place during the late spring or summer of 2023. The estimated construction cost is between $250,000.00 and $500,000.00. USACE is developing a construction package that involves repairs to the masonry and related items at the Gatehouse structure of the Knightville Dam. The Gatehouse at Knightville Dam is a steel framed structure with brick masonry walls. In 1985, extensive masonry repair work was performed, including replacement of the top forty (40) courses of brick around the entire perimeter, removal of glass block windows and infilling the openings with new brick masonry, as well as extensive repointing and injection of adhesive epoxy on all sides of both interior and exterior facades. In 2009 a new roof membrane and perimeter coping were installed. Recently, significant water leakage has been observed at the interior faade, particularly on the west side of the north wall where water tends to pond on the floor. The scope of work for this contract includes: Clean exterior brick and repoint, as necessary, and apply a vapor sealant over the exterior to aid against future water intrusion. Clean interior brick and repoint, as necessary Replace the failed protective coating along the edges of the crane bridge beam(s) Work on this project is anticipated to involve fall safety hazards, which will require the establishment and implementation of a fall protection program in accordance with EM 385-1-1, Section 21. This includes the development of site-specific Fall Protection and Prevention Plan with onsite oversight by a Competent Person who has successfully completed a 24-Hour Competent Person in Fall Protection Training. On-site work for this project will only be permitted between 1 May and 30 September, inclusive, of any year. On-site work outside of this period will not be permitted. For reference, the bridge length is approximately 213-feet, and the roadway width across the bridge is 12-feet. Concrete curbs sit on either side that are approximately 1-foot high by 1.5-feet wide. On both sides of the deck, there are handrails attached to the top of the curbs. The handrail extends 3-feet above the curb and consists of a three-pipe railing system with intermittent concrete pylons. Access into the gatehouse via doorway is approximately 7-8.
