- Description
- THIS IS A REQUEST FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST (RFEI) ONLY This Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEI) is not intended as a formal offering for the award of any legal authorization. Participants should not assume they will receive any preference in connection with any future solicitation should they choose to submit materials in response to this RFEI. The National Park Service (NPS) reserves the right, at its sole discretion to withdraw or discontinue the RFEI in whole or in part; use the ideas or materials submitted in response to this RFEI in any manner deemed to be in the best interests of the NPS, including, but not limited to, the undertaking of the prescribed work in a manner other than that which is set forth herein. The NPS likewise reserves the right, at any time, to change any components, concepts or approaches of the RFEI. All costs associated with responding to the RFEI are the sole responsibility of the respondent and any such costs shall not be reimbursed by the NPS. Materials submitted to NPS in connection with this RFEI will not be returned. RFEI INFORMATION The NPS is soliciting public interest and input on its proposed firewood sales and supply at Staircase Campground in Olympic National Park. Expressions of Interest are due no later than the date included in the Submission Criteria section of this document. STAIRCASE CAMPGROUND OVERVIEW Staircase Campground is located 15 miles northwest of Hoodsport in an old growth forest near the Skokomish River. Lake Cushman is a quick 1-mile drive south of the campground. The popular Rapids Loop Trail is easily accessed from the campground. There are 49 campsites with picnic tables and fire pits. Amenities the campground offers include potable water and flush toilets during the summer season. This campground is open year-round; however, the bulk of use occurs from June through August. THE OPPORTUNITY The Park seeks to enhance visitor enjoyment of the campground during the peak season of use, Memorial Day through Labor Day, by offering bundled firewood for sale. Firewood sales may be conducted on the honor system from a shed within the campground. If using this system, the supplier will maintain the supply of dry, locally sourced firewood tied in 1 cubic foot bundles with kindling. Supplier may propose another system of sales so long as it provides 2-hour daily afternoon availability of dry, locally sourced firewood tied in 1 cubic foot bundles with kindling. Supplier for Staircase Campground should anticipate the use of approximately 6 cords of wood throughout the season. The Park anticipates managing this program with one Commercial Use Authorization (CUA). SUBMISSION GUIDELINES Expressions of Interests must include the following: A cover letter expressing your interest including your name, company or organization, and contact information including email address. The Park will contact interested parties with further application information. Please submit your response by 4:00pm PDT on May 16, 2022, to Sue Mayo, Concessions Management Specialist, Olympic National Park at sue_mayo@nps.gov. Include the phrase FIREWOOD SUPPLY in your email subject line.
