36C25722Q0566 PTRP Water Softener Repair Questions & Answers 1. Infection Control: Please provide a project-specific Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) for this project. For example, will barriers and negative air be required during construction? Yes, ICRA Level IV The corridor that was reviewed during the site visit will have to be blocked off during construction if barriers are installed. 1a. Will the corridor be required to be blocked off? If yes, will temporary poly (Zip walls) suffice? No 2. Temporary Services: Are any temporary utilities needed during construction? NO 3. New Plumbing Drawing: Please provide a drawing showing what the new construction is supposed to be. This needs to show tie-in points, valves, piping, etc. It is difficult to know exactly what the VA wants without some type of drawing 3a. Please provide drawings: Drawings attached 4. Outage Plan: Does the VA have a plan for the outage to tie into the existing water lines? Yes, Are there main valves available to shut down the system so it can be drained? Yes, 4a. When can this be done without disrupting patients? Yes, Week- ins 5. Existing Water Softener: Where do the new lines tap into the water softener supply and return side? See drawings provided 6. Existing Water Softener: Does the existing water softener have the capacity to treat the additional water supply? Yes 7. Existing Chase: What is in the existing chase between the water softener closet and the elevator? Domestic water pipes, 7a. Is that space available to run the water lines? Yes 8. Requesting site visit be re-scheduled so that all interested vendors can attend. Site visit completed on 9 May and 18 May 22 9. Please provide a sign in sheet for the site visit scheduled held yesterday at 11am: Sign in Roster attached 17. Request deadline for questions be extended until after the site visit: 10. Are we to dispose/abate of any asbestos, lead, mold or other hazardous material as part of this project? If so, provide appropriate hazardous material site survey report. Not required 11. What will the ICRA level be for this project? ICRA Level IV for now 12. Are there any requires subcontractors the general contractor must use as part of this contract? General contractor responsibilities not government 13. Please confirm all work on this contract will be performed after-hours. During shut down 14. Statement of work states Services shall be performed in accordance with, as a minimum, the following: Contractor will purchase and install 2-1/2 copper pipe, valves, fittings, silver solder, oxygen and acetylene, and hanger supports from one end of building to water softener room.  Re-pipe water softener with new lines.  All pipe, valves, and fittings will be insulated with 1-1/2 fiberglass insulation.  Any ceilings and walls that need to be taken down or penetrated will be repaired by contractor. 15. See highlighted items above and please clarify if 2-1/2 is intended to mean one 2 ½ line or two ½ lines? 2 ½ copper pipe 16. Please clarify if insulation is intended to mean ½ or 1 ½ ? ½ Insulation 18. Why is the piping being replaced? Installation of new pipe 19. Piping entering/leaving the soft water room is a different size than indicated in the SOW. Are contractors replacing the entire water main all the way to the soft water system with the size stated in the SOW? Or should the piping be replaced to match existing pipe sizes?
