- This is NOT a solicitation. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Nashville District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, intends to issue an Invitation for Bid (IFB) for a firm fixed-price construction contract for Cheatham Lock, Concrete Storage Pad, with Options for Fencing. The work is located at Cheatham Dam in Ashland City, Tennessee. Cheatham Lock is acquiring a set of 6 EA stoplogs for use at the lock, which will be provided by others on a separate contract. Cheatham does not currently have a space to store the stoplogs, therefore the scope of this contract is for the Contractor to build a storage pad to house the stoplogs when not in use. The storage pad provided by this contract will be large enough to accommodate the stoplogs and a pedestrian bridge (stoplogs and bridge provided by a separate contract). All work described below is to be performed by the contractor based on USACE plans and specs. Base: Before the slab can be installed, there is an existing asphalt slab, 18? culvert, and large tree that must be removed. Below the location for the new slab is a grounding mat and terminals that will be relocated IAW USACE plans. The Slab will be made of reinforced concrete with Lateral Supports (steel guides) installed to facilitate lowering and placement of the stoplogs on the slab. The slab will be 125?-5? in length, 50?-4? wide, and 1?-2? deep. Prior to construction, the soil below where the pad will be placed must be excavated and refilled with #57 stone and geotextiles. The slab will include bearing plates, reinforcements, and multiple construction joints. Lateral Supports will be braced frames anchored to concrete. Frames will be 12?-1? tall with columns typically being W8X18 and braces typically being C5X9. Additional drainage for the slab and surrounding areas will also need to be installed. Work will also include earthwork and reseeding of plots where earth was disturbed. Options: All Options include the following work in varying amounts;- Milling asphalt/curbing- Laying new asphalt - Earthwork/reseeding - Tree removal - Construction of security fence - Construction of smaller concrete slab - Construction of mountable curbing - Adding drainage improvements The specifications will be provided with the solicitation announcement. DISCLOSURE OF THE MAGNITUDE OF THE PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION PROJECT: Between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000.
