- PURCHASE DESCRIPTION RUBBER ADHESIVE AND PRIMER This is a requirements type contract for the use of Red River Army Depot only. Quantities listed are estimated quantities only and are not guaranteed. No funds will be obligated by the award or the resultant contract, but will be obligated by the issuance of delivery orders. The required covercoat shall be NSN/Part No. 76005CHEMLOK 220 or equivalent and the adhesive primer shall NSN/Part No. 76005CHEMLOK 205 or equivalent. The contract will have three consecutive ordering years beginning date of award and ending three years from date of award. Each ordering year provides an estimated quantity as listed below. Adhesive primer and covercoat are used in daily operations for bonding of rubber to road wheels and track shoes on the BFVS, Abrams, M88, 113FOV, M60FOV, M109 and MLRS vehicles. RRAD has the only capability within the Department of Defense (DOD) for reclamation and remanufacture of combat vehicle Road wheel and track. All products must accompany a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and approved by RRAD personnel prior to delivery of any products. Minimum acceptable shelf life remaining at time of delivery is 85%. Delivery is within 7 days after receipt of delivery order. Citation: TACOM DMWR 9-2530-200/2 page 3-8 3-13.a.� Spray or brush first cover application of bonding agent primer (item 1, appendix C) or equivalent, to area that rubber will bond to. 3-13.b.� Allow primer to dry thoroughly before applying cover coat. 3-13.c.� Spray or brush cover coat, bonding agent (item 2, appendix C) or equivalent, on primer and allow to dry thoroughly before removing masking tape. Comments: A.�������� It would be a �best practices� to: i)��������� Purchase these items together on the same contract to ensure matched/compatible products are contracted/purchased/received together. ii) Pay close attention to the expiration dates in the contract; when purchasing; when receiving; and when issuing the products. Estimated Quantities: 1. 76005CHEMLOK 220 or equivalent: Rubber to Metal Adhesive, in 5 Gallon (19 Liter) containers. One-coat adhesive that will bond a variety of vulcanized or un-vulcanized rubber compounds to metal or rubber compounds. Black liquid appearance, non-volatile content by weight is 22.0-24.0%, solvents Xylene, dries 30 to 60 minutes at room temperature, shelf life-one year. Adhesive will resist prebaking times up to 15 minutes at 160 degrees C (320 degrees F) or the equivalent at other temperatures without deleterious effect on the bond. Estimated Quantities: Year One: 180 each Year Two: 180 each Year Three: 90 each 2. 76005CHEMLOK 205 or equivalent: Rubber to metal Adhesive Primer in 5 Gallon (19 Liter) containers. Gray liquid appearance, non-volatile content by weight is 22.0-26.0%; density LBS/gal is 7.6- 8.1, solvents MIBK, MEK, xylene, dries 30 to 45, shelf life-one year.
