- The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Surface Force Logistics Center (SFLC), In-Service Vessel Sustainment (ISVS) Section, in support of the 175 WLM Major Maintenance Availability (MMA) is releasing this Request for Information (RFI) to gather information related to commercially-available solutions associated with the Gyrocompass. Request for Information (RFI) Only. This RFI is issued solely for information and planning purposes � it does not constitute as a Request for Proposal (RFP) or a promise to issue an RFP in the future. This request for information does not commit the Government to contract for any supply or service. Further, the Government is not at this time seeking proposals and will not accept unsolicited proposals. The Government will not pay for any information or administrative costs incurred in response to this RFI; all costs associated with responding to this RFI will be solely at the interested party�s expense. The USCG 175 WLM MMA will include an upgrade of the existing Gyrocompass that includes the capacities as shown in the requirements below.� A Sustainment Conference was conducted leading up to the planning of the 175 WLM MMA and Design Study Reports were conducted to determine the intended work items.� The Gyrocompass was identified as a high priority work item to ensure the Cutters remain mission ready and maintainable throughout their service life. Requirements General The gyrocompass shall be Fiber Optic Gyrocompass (FOG) or other comparable non-mechanical gyrocompass technology. The gyrocompass shall not utilize rotating or moving parts. The replacement gyrocompass system shall be maintenance-free and require no periodic calibration. Performance The new gyrocompass shall at least meet the following performance requirements: Accuracy:� Heading 0.1� deg. x Secant Latitude Roll/Pitch Range:� � 180� Dynamic Motion:� Roll -� � 45� ���� Pitch - � 45� Speed:� -10 to 90 Knots Settling Time:� < 30 minutes (full accuracy), unaided. As defined in IMO ��������������� A.424(X1) and A.821(19) resolutions. Rate:� < 90 degrees/second Availability:� Gyro shall continue to output data in an alarm state if heading accuracy is + or - .2 - .5 degree MTBF shall exceed 50,000 hours Environmental The gyrocompass at a minimum shall meet the following environmental conditions: Operating Temperature:������������������� -20�C to +55�C (-4�F to +131�F) Storage Temperature:����������������������� -40�C to +80�C (-40�F to +176�F) Humidity������������������������������������������ 0% to 90%, relative, non-condensing Vibration:����������������������������������������� MIL-STD-167, type I Noise:� MIL-STD-740-1 Grade C Airborne MIL-STD-740-2 Type 3 Structure Interface Requirements The following systems shall use the gyrocompass data: SPS-50 Radar Electronic Charting Display and Information System (ECDIS) Autopilot Dynamic Positioning System (DPS) Scalable Integrated Navigation System 2 (SINS-2) Heading Repeater interfaces CG Machinery Control System (MCS) Physical Dimensions Maximum dimenstions � 15inch wide x 20inch high x 15inch depth fully assembled Electric Power Requirements The gyrocompass and data distribution units shall be capable of operation from a nominal 24VDC source.
