STATEMENT OF WORK:� BACKGROUND VA Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS) has a requirement for cardiac surgery unit advance life support training. This training differs from what is taught by American Heart Association for general cardiac arrest and is not included in in the American Heart Association experienced provider training.� It is recommended re-sternotomy take place within the first five minutes of cardiac arrest.�� To accomplish this bedside RN�s and Providers need training in how to complete a re-sternotomy at the bedside in the absence of the cardiac surgeon.� VAPSCHS is requesting a standardized training format to increase the professional expertise of registered nurses, nurse practitioners, nurse anesthetist, physician assistants and physicians when caring for cardiac surgery patients with sternotomy.� This course is known as Cardiac Advance Life Support (CALS) internationally.�� Staff to be trained are surgical ICU RN�s, ICU attendings, medical ICU attendings and STAT RN�s to be rotated through scheduled offerings twice a year. �Services Requested:�� CALS training and support includes educational materials and in-person training. Vendor will provide course materials to include any books, eLearning, pre-course review, and digital media for teaching. Number of trainees per year:� estimated 100/per year Year 1 � �Quarterly training approx. 25 students per session with a range from 0-30 students Year 2 � Quarterly training approx. 25 students per session with a range from 0-30 students, Train the Trainer Course approx. 6 new instructors, Preceptorship of Trainers, Instructor Renewal Course for 5 instructors. Year 3 � Quarterly training approx. 25 students per session with a range from 0-30 students Training to take place at VA Puget Sound Health Care System located at 1660 S. Columbian Way, Seattle WA 98108. Vendor will provide a CALS certified trainer for the Train the Trainer Courses. Vendor will include formal course certificate at the end of each training session. Vendor will allow post-course access to eLearning for maintenance of competency and review. Purchase of CSU-ALS media for posting in units to include up to 10 wall posters with permission to print additional letter size flyers/posters. Purchase of lanyard tags as needed to match completed CSU-ALS training (including those trained as trainers). Vendor will maintain and submit an accurate roster of all individuals attending training of CSU-ALS and the names and current certification of training instructors. Vendor acknowledges and agrees to ensure that all students who attends CSU-ALS training receive a valid user certificate upon successful completion of the CSU-ALS Provider or Trainer Course as a certified in-house CSU-ALS instructor. Vendor performance evaluation shall be completed by attendees at end of training and made available to the contracting officer�s representative (COR). Refresher training will be conducted every 2 years. Course audits will be provided free to COR or designee for evaluation purposes as needed. Vendor will provide staff in-service train the trainer support and refresh principals of CALS. Vendor will proctor, audit, and recertify in-house trainers. Confidentiality Vendor will comply and adhere to Privacy Act of 1976. No HIPPA information will be exchanged Capacity/Independent Contractor In providing the services it is expressly agreed that the Vendor is acting as an independent contractor and not as an employee. The Vendor acknowledges this does not create a partnership or joint venture between them and is exclusively a contract for service. The C&A requirements do not apply, and that a Security Accreditation Package is not required.
