- Description
- The purpose of the RING II contract is to provide resilience in Northern Ghana (RING II) - Systems Strengthening activity. The activity focuses on enhancing the ability of all stakeholdersto address poor nutrition and weak resilience in Northern Ghana. USAID defines resilience as the ability of people, households, communities, countries, and systems to mitigate, adapt to, and recover from shocks and stresses in a manner that reduces chronic vulnerability and facilitates inclusive growth. RING II - Systems Strengthening directly complements the planned RING II G2G - Implementation Letter to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development that USAID co-designed with the Government of Ghana. RING II - Systems Strengthening is an approved activity of the Ghana Food Security Project (GFSP), which aims to strengthen Ghanas capacity to independently address poverty, hunger, and malnutrition by accelerating inclusive, sustainable agriculture-led economic growth and increasing household income, while maintaining a resilient, well-nourished population, especially women and children. The goal of RING II - Systems Strengthening aligns with the GFSP in that it facilitates citizens to adopt and sustain practices that improve their nutrition and resilience by achieving three objectives: (1) Local governments plan, finance, and deliver essential services that respond to the populations needs; (2) Local government, non-governmental, and private entities collectively implement solutions to promote household nutrition and resilience; and (3) Citizens influence local service delivery to respond to their needs.
