Description
Amendment 0001 - is being posted. Adds Questions and Answers and attendees of pre-bid/site conference. Combined SYNOPSIS and SOLICITATION - West Muddy #5 is an existing timber deck bridge stream crossing located on NFSR 265 Hightower Road on the Paonia Ranger District of the Grand Mesa National Forest. This existing bridge has inadequate loading requirements to accommodate the weight of timber log trucks that will be used to transport timber harvested in that area. To accommodate the loading requirements the Forest Service will be installing a Big R prefabricated temporary bridge to accommodate the additional loading. This work will require delivery and installation of said structure. Additionally, crushed gravel and common earth fill will be required for the bridge approaches. Geotextile wrapped, gravel filled Geocell foundational support will also be required under the temporary bridge sills. A traffic control plan will be required to direct traffic during construction. Optional bid item for this project will be streambank stabilization to protect the current bridge abutment that is failing. This will require the installation of 60 linear feet of crushed rock riprap over nonwoven geotextile along the streambank approach. Also included in the optional bid item is obstruction removal of an existing beaver dam upstream of the bridge. The project is in an isolated area located in the Rocky Mountains. Weather and environmental stress will be a consideration. The total vision of this project is to install a high quality, temporary bridge to protect current historical resources as well as provide safe passage for commercial haul of timber. Project Location: The project is located at Latitude LATITUDE: 39.127444 LONGITUDE: -107.558288 on NFSR 265 Hightower Road on the Paonia Ranger District of the Grand Mesa National Forest.
