- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to the Brigham and Womens Hospital, Inc. to access to a large dataset in which to study post-traumatic stress among nurses working during the COVID-19 pandemic, and both personal and workplace-level factors that increased or decreased adverse mental health outcomes. Studies meeting our needs would have to include three main components: 1) individual-level health information on mental health disorders both before and during the pandemic; 2) data on individual demographic and individual-level experiences during the pandemic (e.g., experiencing a death from COVID-19 among family or friends; being a parent), and 3) data on individuals workplace experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic (e.g., experiencing shortages of PPE, working with COVID-19 patients, receiving training in infection control in the past year). Brigham and Womens Hospital and Harvard School of Public Health have exclusive access to the Harvard Cohorts data. These types of studies are time- and resource-intensive to conduct, and only the Harvard Cohorts study is collecting all of these data prospectively in the United States. Since NIOSH has been a funding source for the Nurses Health Study 3 since the planning stages of the study, our consultation has encouraged the study team to collect information on these specific exposures, as they were identified as significant data gaps from the earliest stages of the pandemic. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested parties may identify their interest and submit documentation of their capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all responses received within two (2) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any response should be emailed to the appropriate point of contact at EEH3@cdc.gov by 11:00 AM on July 11 2022.
