Description

Notice of Intent to Award Sole Source - SUSI 8 Pre-Front Lay The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP), on behalf of the Officer of the Chief Procurement Officer (OCPO) at the Western Currency Facility (WCF), intends to award a sole source contract for SUSI 8 Pre-Front Lay. The Government intends to award a sole source contract in accordance with FAR Subpart 6.302-1(a)(2), ""Only one responsible source and no other supplies or service will satisfy agency requirements."" Anticipated delivery/installation date is 10 August 2022. The Offset Division is a production area in the Office of Currency Manufacturing responsible for the production of US Currency.� This section maintains high speed multi-functional printing presses that include offset printing of $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100 US currency notes. Press 8 /Press 64401815 will not stabilize the sheet while printing causing registration issues. The poor press performance has caused an increased spoilage rate resulting in a higher cost to produce United States Currency when run at top speed and when run at a slower speed small variations still occurs but a volume/throughput issue occurs resulting in a higher cost.� The Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of the BEP�s SUSI presses is Koenig and Bauer; they currently have sole proprietorship of these presses and are responsible for the design, manufacture, installation as well as maintenance and operation training of the system to the BEP Electro Machinist (Maintenance) and Pressman (Operators).� This notice of intent is not a request for competitive offers/quotes/proposals. A determination not to compete this requirement is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The solicitation will not be posted. To be considered, responses must be received no later than 5:00 P.M. CST 15 July 2022. Additionally, interested sources must be registered and currently active in the System for Award Management (SAM), found at https://www.sam.gov.
