- The Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC is issuing this Sources Sought as a means of conducting Market Research to identify parties having an interest in and the resources to support a requirement for Arhival Mold Abatement in support of the Parris Island Museum. The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code assigned to the procurement is 562910. Information is for planning purposes only and no solicitation documents exist at this time. Issuance of this notice does not constitute any obligation on the part of the Government to procure this service or to issue a solicitation. In addition, the Government is under no obligation to pay for information submitted in response to this RFI, and responses to this notice cannot be accepted as offers. Any information that the vendor considers proprietary should be clearly marker as such. Requirement: Support for the transportation, materials, and staff required for the mold treatment of the six (6) boxes provided by the Museum. The dimensions of each box are 6 x 15.5 x 10.5. These boxes have been classified as having �severe� mold issues by a paper conservationist. Must have the capability to treat the individual sheets affected by mold and mitigate the continued proliferation of mold on the sheets located in the same box. Must demonstrate ability to use approved methods of mold deactivation in line with processes published by the Conservation Center for Art & Historic Artifacts. Qualification requirements: Five (5) or more years of experience in the field of archival conservation Demonstration of proficiency and knowledge in techniques for mold deactivation in archives, as described Demonstration of access to required technology, materials, and qualified staff to perform the required assessment Assessment Notes: �The six boxes that were assessed on December 3, 2021 are filled with a variety of paper based objects, including; books, magazines, documents, etc. These paper based items have been exposed to high humidity and in some cases, to water directly. As a result, these items have varying levels of damage, the most concerning of which is the mold growth. Not all items have mold actively growing on them, but all items are being stored alongside items that do have active mold present and have been directly exposed to mold. Observed damage to the items includes; powdery mold, mold growth, mold stains, tide lines, surface dirt and grime, foxing, oxidation, folds, creases, tears, buckling and planar distortions, odor of mildew, etc. All items are in need of surface cleaning with a vacuum that has a HEPA filter attached. Some items will need further attention to remove mold and to prevent further mold infestation. Each page of each document, magazine and or book will need to be cleaned and addressed both front and back.� Period of Performance: 4 Months If your organization has the potential to support this requirement, please provide the following information: 1.
