This notice is intended strictly for market research. The purpose of this Sources Sought notice is to determine interest and capability of potential qualifications of Small Businesses firms relative to the North American Industry Classification Code (NAICS) 311423. The Department of Veteran s Affairs is seeking all small business manufacturer or distributors of small business manufacturers, of the following requirement and specifications. This is not a brand name requirement. The VA Hudson Valley Health Care System at Montrose and Wappinger Falls, New York has a requirement for purchasing Meals Ready to Eat (MRE) food and water to the patients, residents, and staff in the event of an emergency or natural disaster. These meals must meet the various dietary requirements of our patients/residents, as well as be suitable for modified consistencies. We must also have vegetarian meal offerings available to accommodate this dietary preference. The meals should require minimal preparation, no refrigeration, and be able to be served without electricity. Brand name or equal will satisfy this request. Scope of Work: Contractor will provide both emergency food with a minimum shelf life of 10 years and emergency water supplies with a minimum shelf life of 50 years respectively. A five-day menu to provide for variety will be available along with a nutritional analysis. Each day shall contain a breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack. Each day will contain approximately 2000 calories and 90 grams of protein. Available menu meets the needs of therapeutic diets, modified consistencies, such as, purees and have vegetarian meal options available. Training resources and guides are required. The contractor will provide liability coverage should the product not meet its shelf stable shelf life. All emergency food and water will be delivered to the Montrose and Castle Point campus and be stored accordingly. All deliveries will be at the Nutrition and Food Service Loading docks.
