- Notice of Intent to Award Sole Source to the University of California San Diego. The Department of the Navy, Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC Pacific) hereby publicizes its intention to solicit, negotiate, and award a Firm-Fixed-Price purchase order on a noncompetitive basis with UC San Diego. The requirement is for the purchase of various specialty machined metal items (metal end caps and tubing) and machining services. The description of these items is below. However, the specific drawings may only be released to DoD contractors with a valid SAM registration. Please contact the Contract Specialist at james.k.blake12.civ@us.navy.mil with your company's valid CAGE code to receive the drawings if you believe your company may be able to provide these items based on the descriptions. 1. MATERIAL: NICKEL-CHROMIUM-MOLYBDENUM STEEL (HY-80 OR HY100) CONFORMING TO THE FOLLOWING SHALL BE USED: MIL-S-16216 FOR PLATES MIL-S-23008 FOR CASTINGS MIL-S-23009 FOR FORGINGS MIL-S-22664 FOR EXTRUDED SHAPES MIL-S-22958 FOR HOT ROLLED SHAPES MIL-S-21952 FOR BARS FINISH: PRIMER AND PAINT (ON INDICATED SURFACES ONLY. MASK ALL OTHER SURFACES): - PERFORM SSPC-SP 10, NEAR-WHITE METAL BLAST CLEANING TO PREPARE METAL SURFACE. EXCLUDING AREA OF OVERLAP OF ELECTROLESS NICKEL. - PERFORM SSPC-SP 1, SOLVENT CLEANING PRIOR TO APPLYING PRIMER.
