- Description
- NOI-NIAID-2135723 **NOTICE OF INTENT NAICS 334516, Analytical Laboratory Instrument Mfg This is a Notice of Intent, not a request for proposal. The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to negotiate on an other than full and open competition basis with Ted Pella, Inc in Redding, CA to procure a Ted Pella PELCO BioWave Pro+ Microwave, ColdSpot, and Vacuum Chamber system. The system includes the following items: PELCO BioWave Pro+ Laboratory Microwave Tissue Sample Processing System, item # 36700, QTY 1 EA PELCO ColdSpot Pro PVC/Glass, item # 36116-10, QTY 1 EA PELCO EM Pro Vacuum Chamber (tubing included), item # 3536, QTY 1 EA SHIPPING (to NIH/RML in Hamilton, MT 59840) Rocky Mountain Labs, Research Technologies Section, Electron Microscopy Unit supports NIAID investigators with a variety of state-of-the-art microscopy techniques and technologies. The Electron Microscopy Units specialized support and scientific expertise enhance the research efforts of NIAID investigators and often require using equipment that is highly specialized. The PELCO BioWave Pro+ system is needed to automate routine processes within the lab, such as staining and fixing tissues for both electron and light microscopy imaging for efficient and effective processing and results to maintain the integrity and quality of NIAID samples. This instrument contains an accurate temperature and microwave magnetron control to allow precise repeatability resulting in faster and more accurate results to DIR investigators. NIAID requires the PELCO BioWave Pro+ library of ready-to-run protocols that are part of the system and designed for use with existing application-specific sample preparation kits for electron microscopy, immunological/confocal/in situ staining, decalcification, and tissue fixing. This specific system features a microwave tissue processor with a patented internal load cooling system and features a digital chiller able to accurately control sample temperature; these pre-developed protocols are directly applicable to the NIAID labs routine sample processing workflows. Of highest importance, the PELCO platform is consistent with existing Ted Pella microwaves that are already in use in the lab which will meet the requirement of retaining continuity within results. The Place of performance is 903 S. 4th Street, Hamilton, MT 59840. The statutory authority for this sole source requirement is 41 U.S.C. 1901 (e) (1) as implemented by FAR 13.106-1 only one responsible source and no other supply of service will satisfy agency requirements. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. All responsible sources that could provide comparable services may submit a capability statement that will be considered by email (subject line to reference NOI-NIAID-2135723) to Dana Monroe at dana.monroe@nih.gov, by Tuesday, August 2, 2022 by 5:00pm EDT. All responses received by the closing date of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination not to compete this requirement, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government.
