Description
On behalf of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), the Office of Acquisitions Contracts Management Branch Red, NINDS Section of the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), intends to solicit on a sole-source basis by a request for quotation to Sensapex to acquire two Micromanipulator Systems with components to control pressure in glass pipettes on August 10, 2022 with an award issued on or around September 1, 2022. The Cellular Neurophysiology Section (CNS/NINDS) has an existing collaboration with the Allen Brain Institute and requires two micromanipulator systems to support the ongoing research. CNS/NINDS currently owns an existing Sensapex micromanipulator system with three (3) 3-axis micromanipulators. The CNS/NINDS requires: (1) expansion of this Sensapex system into a five (5) 3-axis micromanipulator system, and (2) purchase of a second five (5) 3-axis Sensapex micromanipulator system with an 8-channel pressure controller. CNS/NINDS needs to purchase micromanipulators for its slice physiology experiments to explore the function of dopamine neurons. This process is vital to test the effects alterations in neural circuitry in various animal models of Parkinsons Disease. This instrument will help to answer complex biological questions related to Parkinsons Disease. This equipment will be incorporated into multiple projects for core users.
