- This notice is being published in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 5.101(a)(2) requiring the dissemination of information on proposed contract actions. This is a notice of intent to award a sole-source contract pursuant to 10 U.S.C 2304 (C)(1), as implemented by FAR 6.302-1(a)(2) and 6.301-1(c), only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements, and brand-name descriptions. The Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers located at 150 South Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02301 and 940 Belmont Street Brockton, MA 02301 have a requirement for two Starkey StarLab Hearing Aid Modification Systems. The Government intends to award a firm-fixed-price sole source contract. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. this notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. This is a written notice to inform the public of the Governments intent to award on a sole source basis. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. Any response to this notice must show clear and convincing evidence that competition will be advantageous to the Government. The Department of Veteran Affairs, VISN 01, VA Boston Healthcare System due to numerous factors has a requirement for: two Starkey Starlab hearing aid modification systems. Starkey continues the tradition of excellence in hearing aid modification equipment by maintaining the Starkey legacy of fast, efficient, and familiar navigation. The specially designed Professional High Speed Oto-Lathe is built for ease of use and rugged dependability. It helps providers quickly and precisely modify any style of hearing aid or earmold for improved fit and comfort. A special industrial grade diamond bit provides smooth, injury free plastic reduction. The QuickChange Chuck makes for fast and simple bit replacement. Additional burrs for enlarging or modifying standard vents plus special flexible bits for CIC vent modification are also included. The Adjustable Work Light and Magnification Lens can be positioned up or down to ease the strain of any precision modification. Each Buffing Wheel is pre-treated and compounded for easy scratch removal and high polish, helping restore patients hearing aids to like-new condition. The wheel is surrounded by the Padded Safety Bin to prevent damage to the hearing aid. The StarMed EarLab makes UV shell repairs and modifications quick and easy. The proprietary Ultra Shell Material hardens instantly in the UV Curing Chamber to produce a professional, long-lasting repair. The Professional Fitting Station also contains an integrated Pull-Out Work Shelf to accommodate more time-consuming repairs or modifications. Also included in the drawers are all the tools and modification kits necessary for the professional fitting and service of hearing instruments.
