Description
FSFC Det 3 GCRTC Desert Defender seeks to purchase two (2) 10 stall trailers and one (1) 6 stall trailer to provide the necessary canine transport for its ever increasing training program demands. AFSFC Det 3 GCRTC Desert Defender requires trailers of adequate size and durability to ensure safe canine transport for its rigorous training program. These scope requirements are detailed in the minimum requirements and specification sections below. Trailer design and specifications must meet all requirements of the FMVSS, Federal DOT and NHTSA. Trailer must have an individual 17 digit serial number in accordance with the FMVSS (Appendices A and B). Desert Defender has never purchased a MWD transport trailer while operating as an RTC. All trailers have been passed down from previous RTCs and various DoD installations. The current trailers infrastructure efficiency has been reduced drastically because of inclement weather, age of trailers and worn/missing parts. Due to the continuous use and demand of canine transport, additional repairs are needed frequently. The increased costs for maintenance and frequency of repair have further reduced our ability to provide a safe, secure, and dependable transport. For these reasons, the purchase of these trailers is essential in meeting the requirement for canine transport to and from the training environments. The existing trailer infrastructure is aged and does not provide the capability of the effective canine effecifiency. The existing equipment within the trailer has worn and missing parts essential to the trailers effectiveness. The canine transport trailers must be capable of sustaining consistent climate control in inclement weather to promote a healthier environment for the canines before, during, and after training. Additionally, the trailer should have a dual door system to improve air venilation and the safety of MWD Teams and Instructors.
