Description
The purpose of the Solicitation Amendment is to formally respond to vendor questions that were sent in prior to the deadline and to provide the Standard Operating Procedure for Confined Entry Space. Delivery Schedule does the job have to be completed in 1-2 weeks we expect it to last at least twice that long? That delivery schedule was a leftover from a previous statement of work that did not proceed due to budget shortfalls. We have no issue with extending the delivery schedule, as it will likely depend on the vender/technology used/amount of manpower onsite each day/etc. Do the traps need to be mapped because that is not in the scope but it is in the delivery schedule? We do request at least a rough markup of traps found on our steam system drawings to allow our P&D folks to eventually create a more comprehensive drawing. William Pickerrell requested at the site meaning for vendor to inspect the pipes. The intent here was only for the vendor to kindly advise us of any major issues the vendor encounters during the steam trap survey. The majority of the steam traps are in sewers in confined spaces, which is ok, but some are not accessible. I want to make sure you are aware that we will not be testing the ones we can t get to. We understand this. At this point any information we can get will be better than what we currently have. What is the estimated number of steam traps to be surveyed at the facility? We are uncertain at this time, which is why there is a need for the survey. How many of these steam traps are thermostatic ""radiator"" type traps (typically found on space heating equipment such as radiators and unit convectors)? Most of the traps we are looking to survey are expected to be bucket traps (although we cannot answer this definitively), all will be located in underground steam tunnels on the campus steam distribution system. We are not looking to survey traps inside any buildings at this time. Are any of the steam traps located in patient rooms or other sensitive areas with limited access? No How many of the steam traps are located in confined space? 99% of the traps we are looking to survey are located in confined space (tunnels). A small portion of the distribution system is overhead. Unfortunately, we cannot provide an exact or estimated number at this time. Does the hospital have a policy regarding confined space entry procedures and personnel requirements? We do, attached. Michael Riordan michael.riordan@va.gov
