- The Dixie National Forest, Cedar City Ranger District, anticipates a need for commercial hand thinning, pruning, piling on approximately 1,280 acres, and hand thinning, pruning and lop/scatter on approximately 4,763 acres. The Contractor shall furnish all tools, labor, supervision, equipment, materials, supplies (fuel), transportation, and incidentals necessary to accomplish the removal of trees, piling and scattering of slash in accordance with the specifications. The Contractor shall furnish Phone, pad, or tablet capable of running Avenza maps to their respective crew leader to stay within unit boundaries during hand thinning, pruning, piling, and lop scatter operations. Forest service will provide pdf. maps of units geo referenced to run Avenza. The project location is: The Ike�s Valley Vegetation Improvement Project (VIP) area is located within Garfield and Kane counties, Utah, approximately 28 miles east of Cedar City and located within T37S R6W, T37S R7W, T38S R6W and T38S R7W of the Salt Lake Base Meridian. The access to the project area is off of Utah State Route 14, approximately 31 miles east of Cedar City. The project is bounded by Forest Highway (FH) 050, also known as Mammoth Creek Highway, on the west, private land on the north and east, and Utah State Route 14 on the south. There are no designated wilderness areas or inventoried roadless areas (IRA) within the project area. The project area encompasses a variety of vegetation types on the Cedar City Ranger District. Elevation within the project area varies from 7,290 feet at the lowest point near the confluence of Swains and Strawberry Creeks to 8,579 feet at the northern end of the project area near Mammoth Creek. At lower elevations the vegetation is a mosaic of scattered pinyon pine and Rocky Mountain juniper, sagebrush and mountain brush. As elevations rise from the valley bottom the vegetation transitions first to stands of pinyon-juniper woodland, then ponderosa pine forests and then finally at the highest elevations and some north facing slopes to mixed conifer. The work anticipated under any contract resulting from the solicitation could begin in the fall of 2022. This project is a total Small Business Set Aside.
