Description

STATEMENT OF NEED Market research is being conducted to identify potential sources that may possess Louisiana Longleaf Pine Seeds.� Kisatchie National Forest requires longleaf pine seeds that genetically matches the existing forest.� The seeds are to be stored at the contractor�s facility until picked up by Forest Service personnel.� Before each pickup, seeds must undergo germination testing to confirm viability.� IMPEDIMENT TO COMPETITION In previous years, the Forest Service only collected enough pinecones/seeds to meet its needs at that time.� �The only known source is LA Forest Seed Company, who is believed to have collected the remaining seeds years ago. Our existing inventory of this seed experienced heavy damage from Hurricane Laura in August 2020.� The Louisiana longleaf pine seed is needed for sowing and to replenish inventory. INTEREST The Forest Service intends to award a single source contract to LA Forest Seed Company Inc. (UEI No. YTLUL1A4BUP5) for the purchase, storage and germination testing of Louisiana Longleaf Pine Seed.� Other interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement no later than 05 September 2022 to Evonne Huggins, Evonne.Huggins@usda.gov via email.� The Government intends to procure these items using those Single Source procedures in FAR 13.106-1(b) Soliciting From a Single Source.
