Description
8/26/2022: This amendment to the RFI posts answers to questions asked during the question period. Please see the new attachment titled ""Q and A Release - RFI LGD20220164"". The response date remains unchanged. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY. This RFI is issued solely for information and planning purposes it does not constitute a request for proposal or quote (RFP/RFQ) or a promise to issue an RFP/RFQ in the future. See attachments for additional information including important due dates. The Library of Congress (Library) is conducting Market Research to ascertain industry capabilities in the market to provide support and system maintenance of the existing proprietary Library Archival System (LAS). The software was developed by and supported by General Fifth Associates (GFA) who will no longer support the software. Harvard University owns the intellectual property that underlies the Library Archival System. Harvard will receive copies of the software in escrow in support of any contingency. Harvard has also agreed to allow other organizations to provide support for LAS. The Library of Congress uses LAS to inventory and track its collections location. The LAS system is a relational database management system (RDBMS) written in the 4GL programming language. The Contractor needs to be familiar with developing in the Progress OpenEdge Release 11.3.3 environment that was used to create the LAS. LAS is accessed frequently by 67 users and the client is installed on 60 machines in five physical locations, and runs on a Linux operating system maintained by the Library of Congress. Potential Contractors will provide technical support for the existing software application that consists of various processing and maintenance modules such as accession, circulation, file maintenance, and database comprised of a series of tables (item, tray, location, order, history, client and some temp tables such as that for accession). Potential Contractors will provide remote maintenance and software updates and troubleshooting; technical support via telephone and/or email; administrative support for user access and control and support to create and modify data exports to extract data as needed.
