REVISED DOCUMENTS POSTED 31 AUg 2022. This prospectus is being issued to solicit applications for a concession campground special use permit. A permit or permits to provide high-quality public service in the operation and maintenance of Government-owned recreation facilities located on the Nantahala Ranger District, Nantahala National Forest, will be issued. The permit or permits will include the following developed sites:� ��� �Standing Indian Campground ��� �Kimsey Creek Group Camp ��� �Hurricane Creek Horse Camp� ��� �Hurricane Creek Primitive Camp ��� �Rock Gap Trail Head ��� �Back Country Information Board The authorized officer for this business opportunity is the Forest Supervisor for the National Forests in North Carolina, 160 Zillicoa Street, Asheville, NC 28801.The current permit for this concession expires on December 31, 2022. Over the past three years, this concession has generated the following gross revenues: Year�� �Gross Revenue 2019�� �$166,000 2020�� �$150,000 2021�� �$190,000 B.�� �Area Description Visitors come from all over the world, the Nantahala Ranger District is adjacent to the most visited National Park in the United States, Great Smoky Mountains, with about 12 million visitors a year. The Nantahala Ranger District encompasses over 250,000 acres of National Forest lands in the Southern Appalachian Mountains of Western North Carolina including portions in Macon, Jackson, and Swain Counties. The elevation ranges from slightly over 1700�on the Nantahala River to almost 5900� in elevation near the Blue Ridge Parkway. With forested peaks, natural trout streams, and easy access to the Appalachian National Scenic Trail. Known as the land of Granite Walls and Waterfalls, tourist and local visitors come to this district to experience the numerous waterfalls cascades over massive rock cliffs and round granite domes with cliffs approaching 1,000 feet to enjoy incredible viewpoints. More specifically, the Standing Indian Recreation Area is a camper�s delight, whether you�re camping in an RV or in a tent. It is the focal point of numerous hiking trails and easy access to the Appalachian Trail (AT). Rock Gap Trailhead, a popular entrance point to the AT and Rock Gap Shelter, is about a 20-minute drive to Franklin, North Carolina. The campground has a variety of options; Loop 1 and Loop 5 are more private and covered in a shaded wooded area because of the tree canopy. Loops 2- 4 are more open and sunnier. Due to the campground being on an overall flat surface, visitors can easily bike, play ball, throw a frisbee, pitch a tent, etc. Water pumps are close to camping sites, making it family friendly and � with the available front office/store, visitors can buy what they need in a moments notice.
