Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Research and Development, intends to contract on a sole source basis with Micro Photonics, Inc to provide Skyscan 1272 CMOS Edition High Resolution desktop micro-CT system with 16-sample automatic tube changer and software in support of the Principal Investigator (PI) Dr. Joshua Yarrow, R&D Department, at the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center (VAMC) in Gainesville, Florida. The R&D Department at the Gainesville VAMC must replace the existing 1172 microCT that has been in place for more than 10 years. This specific equipment, the Skyscan 1272, must be purchased to replace the existing equipment because it will be used for critical and ongoing research studies which shall ensure that the system can read and be compatible with our existing research data that was acquired using a Skyscan 1172 microCT system. Purchasing the Skyscan 1272 shall ensure data consistency and comparison to already acquired research data with the Skyscan 1172. Skyscan 1272 CMOS Edition High Resolution desktop micro-CT system with 16-sample automatic tube changer is an ex vivo microCT that is specifically designed for imaging excised tissues from studies involving laboratory animals. The system is based on benchtop micro-CT technology and is capable of 3D imaging and quantifying bone morphology and microarchitecture, vasculature, and other excised soft-tissues at 0.45 micron voxel resolution and above. Acquisition of this product will allow cutting edge research and will bring tremendous benefit to all scientists working with preclinical models. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, any responsible source who believes it is capable of meeting the requirement may submit a capability statement to the contracting office no later than Sunday, September 11, 2022 at 3:00 PM EST. Interest/capability statements may be sent to robin.simmons@va.gov. No telephone responses will be accepted. A determination not to compete the proposed requirement based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
