Description: The project goals to determine native insects present and the early detection of non-native wood boring beetles, such as bark and ambrosia beetles. This project will serve two purposes, first to allow for early detection of non-native forest pests at high-risk sites in the Delaware, and second, to survey bark and ambrosia beetle infestation of white oak species. Methods and survey protocols will be consistently applied at high-risk sites and white oak sites. Traps will be deployed at four sites across Delaware. Each site will consist of three traps targeting various non-native bark and ambrosia beetles, and a general cerambycid lure. Traps will be baited with general and specific lures for beetles including Buprestidae and Curculionidae: Scolytinae.
