DESCRIPTION Description: Questions & Answers | Site Pictures Water Tower Cleaning & Inspection Services VA Medical Center Martinsburg, West Virginia This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) subpart 12.6, Streamlined Procedures for Evaluation and Solicitation for Commercial Items, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested. This solicitation is a request for quotations (RFQ). Order of preference of qualified Small Business providers able to provide all services detailed in statement of work. 1) service-disabled veteran owned business (SDVOSB) 2) veteran owned small business (VOSB) 3) small business (SB) Q&A ANSWERS The in-ground reservoir contains treated, chlorinated water. When water is drained from the dewatering box drain, can it be allowed to drain on the ground? Yes If not on the ground, then what type of disposal is required? Does the water have to be de-chlorinated before draining? Any water that is allowed to discharge to the ground or waters of the state, will need to be de-chlorinated. Does this response about water disposal also apply for water removed from the above-ground Water Tower? Yes Can a JLG (man lift) being driven on the grassy area around the Water Tower? Yes Please describe the size of the manway on top to the outside of Water Tower? 36 inch square What clearance exists at the top of the manway for the diver to get down inside Water Tower? 24 inch diameter OSHA guidelines may require a retrieval system (i.e., tripod) be set up for safety purposes at the top of the water tower. Is there a location where this could be set up? Yes Is there a ladder inside the water tank portion of the water tower that the diver can use to get in and out? No. Hatch only As-built drawings of the Water Tower from 2014 were in the Potable Water Building #504 during the site visit. Can we get copies of these drawings? (Attached previously by Bob Johnson) Are there any drawings? None available Photos available for the in-ground reservoir? YES See Attached Any available pictures from the most recent tower cleaning (Attached previously by Bob Johnson) Does the VA have any estimate of the amount of sediment to be removed from, a. the in-ground reservoir, b. the Water Tower? No NEW-RFQ Close & all Quotes expected by Monday 9-19-22 @ 1300 (1PM)
