- Description
- Phase 1 of this research study aims to establish real-time online capability of predicting high ICP, and/or low PbtO2, collectively referred to as SBI crises, via the creation of a virtual monitor (VM). Phase 2 will assess the predictive performance of our crisis-prediction algorithms and VM, in an observational prospective study. The University of Chicago has already shown high accuracy of their predictive algorithms from a retrospective analysis of prospectively collected physiologic data in a database of 817 TBI patients. In phase 3 they will pilot test an SBI pre-emptive clinical management protocol based on predictive alerts. The hypothesis is that this clinical algorithm will reduce the burden of intracranial hypertension and brain tissue hypoxia in patients with TBI. This contract was awarded as a Cost (no fee).
