- This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested, and a written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation number is 12405B22Q0358 and is issued as a request for quotation (RFQ). The NAICS code is 334516 � Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing. This solicitation document incorporates those provision and clauses in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2022-06.� Any quotes not meeting the minimum specifications will not be considered.� UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH SERVICE SUGARCANE FIELD STATION SPECIFICATIONS Saccharimeter FY22 Introduction: Scientists at the USDA-ARS Sugarcane Field Station are evaluating crosses of sugarcane to develop elite cultivars of sugarcane for commercial release to be grown in south Florida.� The saccharimeter will provide the ability to select crosses based on sugar content. Scope:� The Contractor shall provide an automatic sugar polarimeter that will measure a single wavelength at 589nm to determine the Pol, Brix, and Purity. � Technical Requirements:� 1 Saccharimeter.� Specifications:� Measurements at 589nm using the optical null balancing measuring principle.� The reference temperature must be 20 degree Celsius.� The Range of Measurement must be + 89.9� Arc Optical Rotation and + 259.9� Z (ISS).� The Accuracy must be 0.02� Z.� The Polarizer must be a Glan-Thompson Polarizer not affected by heat or high moisture environments with lifetime warranty.� A multiplier switch is required that will allow for automatic compensation for different optical pathlengths for �, �, and full normal weight options.� The optical components must be completely sealed to protect from dust and corrosive liquids.� Calibration must be automatic.� This should be a new device with appropriate warranties.� Any device that does not meet the above requirements will be rejected.� Delivery should be through USPS, Fed Ex, or UPS.
