- Description
- The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to award a fixed priced purchase order on a sole source basis to CAREFUSION 203, INC, MINNEAPOLIS,MN,55447-1341, DUNS 015525900 for the Clinical Center/ Department of Perioperative Medicine (DPM). The Sterile Processing Section within the Nursing Department cleans, organizes, sterilizes and/or high level disinfects surgical instruments for customer needs. This service support includes over 42 customers as well as the Operating Room within the DPM. Once instruments are used in a procedure they are transported to Sterile Processing to clean, assemble, and sterilize for the next time they are needed. The Department of Perioperative Medicine needs the ability to purchase surgical stainless-steel instruments that will be requested by the Surgeons and Nurses as new instruments, create additional instrument sets needed or that need to be replaced in existing surgical instrument sets. The purchase of additional instruments will give the department the ability to clean the instruments that are returned to the department after use and re-sterilize them within the needed time frame and not be rushed through the process should an emergency case be added on that requires instruments that have not been through the entire process. The additional instrument purchase will also support additional instrument trays that are needed as the types of surgeries increase causing an increase in a particular tray. In order to support the existing instrument sets and purchase new items that will complement the existing sets, the new instruments must be compatible with the existing Carefusion sets. To provide redundancy and prevent instruments sets from being incomplete it is in the best interest of the government to order from the existing instrument provider Carefusion. This acquisition is being conducted under the authority of the FAR Subpart 13.106-1(b)(i), Contracting officers may solicit from one source if the contracting officer determines that the circumstances of the contract action deem only one source reasonably available. Interested concerns capable of providing the same or similar products or services as described in this notice may submit a capability statement outlining their capabilities. Capability Statements must be received within the time set forth in this synopsis to be considered by the Government.
